Important notice: Important notice:
The Youth Manifesto website is no longer being maintained or updated, even though initiatives inspired by the Youth Manifesto outcome and its principles are still being developed. Following the launch of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) portal which aims to provide a central hub of information and resources on internet safety including a dedicated youth corner, the content of the Youth Manifesto website has been gradually migrated there. You can still download the Youth Manifesto publication here.

Regularly-updated content on youth activities from across the Insafe network of European Safer Internet Centres is now made available here. You can also subscribe to our quarterly Better Internet for Kids (BIK) bulletin to keep informed of better internet issues. Each edition provides a topical focus article looking at the latest online trends, with features from youth, industry and the research community, along with a mix of news and resources from other key stakeholders.

Why should you support the Youth Manifesto on Thunderclap?
The Thunderclap campaign makes waves when the message is shared by as many supporters as possible simultaneously. If you support the Youth Manifesto campaign, you are standing up for an idea that matters and you help us spread the word online to people who might be interested in our actions. You can support the Thunderclap campaign with your Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr accounts, by granting Thunderclap permission to post on individual accounts. As such, the Thunderclap platform is using the minimum permissions possible to post a single message on individual accounts and thus it respects privacy rules. Thunderclap would not use or post anything from supporters’ friends accounts.

Background

The Youth Manifesto is specifically aimed at European policy makers, industry and other key stakeholders who are invited to consult the Youth Manifesto publication and support us, young people, in our efforts to raise the visibility of the Youth Manifesto principles.

The Youth Manifesto publication contains the ten selected principles which reflect the digital rights and opportunities that Europe’s young people view as most essential for building a better internet:
  1. Free, unrestricted access to the internet.
  2. Support and education about the internet for everyone.
  3. The ability to protect data and privacy online.
  4. An online world free from bullying, racism and intolerance.
  5. Infrastructure investment to ensure high-quality, high-speed connectivity.
  6. Terms and conditions that are simple to understand.
  7. Access to good quality and reliable content online.
  8. A hack-free online environment.
  9. Freedom of expression online.
  10. An open and democratic internet.
We invite you to learn more about the Youth Manifesto and join the debate on Facebook and Twitter to help us spread the word!
